QUEZON CITY – The Quezon City Development Council endorsed the Marikina River Basin Master Plan for submission to the Regional Development Council of Region 4A on June 3, 2015. Mayor Herbert Bautista presided the council’s regular session meeting that are well represented by barangay/local officials and concerned non-government agencies. 
A brief overview of the MRBMP including the formulation process of the master plan, problems identified within the basin, goals and strategies, investment plans / budgetary requirement on the proposed and existing projects for the MRB and its benefits for the LGUs was presented by Dr. Teodoro Villanueva, Team Leader of Berkman International, Inc.
The council suggested HUDCC and MMDA to be part of the Marikina River Basin Organization. Another query from the council is the sufficiency of the budget for the master plan. The total 3 billion investment requirement for the MRBMP is not sufficient if it includes relocation of informal settlers. Furthermore, the stakeholders especially the barangay and NGOs concerned should participate and coordinate in the implementation of the master plan and provide the necessary budget for them.
