The DENR-RBCO in partnership with the Manila Water Company, Inc. (MWCI), Maynilad Water Services, Inc., and Pasig River Rehabilitation Commission (PRRC) launched the World Water Day 2019 Kick-off activity entitled, Water Fair cum Sungka Tournament last March 15,2019 at the PRRC Livelihood and Mangrove Center, Brgy. Basceco, Tondo, Manila.
Different partner agencies, bureaus and offices actively join in the said event to aim to focus on the World Water 2019 international theme, Leaving no one behind, which focuses on marginalized groups – women, children, refugees, indigenous peoples, disabled people, etc. that are often overlooked, and sometimes face discrimination as they try to access and manage the safe water they need.
DENR-RBCO Executive Director, Antonio M. Daño delivered their messages to the participants on the value of watersheds in the Philippines. “Water is very essential to us. If there is no water, there will be no life on Earth†he said. Also, representatives coming from different partner agencies, bureaus and offices held lectures on their respective topics to the participants. The event was attended by more than 300 participants from the partner agencies, different offices and media groups.
