ANTIPOLO CITY – The Provincial Development Council (PDC) approved and endorsed the Marikina River Basin Master Plan (MRBMP) to Regional Development Council, National Economic Development Authority Region IVA (RDC-NEDA-IVA) on May 19, 2015. It was seconded by Municipality of Baras Technical Working Group (TWG) representative Ms. Yoniza Matamis. The motion is now under Resolution No. 4 Series of 2015, entitled “A Resolution Endorsing the Marikina River Basin Master Plan“, signed by the Vice Governor Frisco San Juan and Head PDC Secretariat, Ms. Milagros Trias.
The PDC meeting was attended by local government officials representing the Municipalities of Baras, Cainta, Rodriguez, San Mateo, Tanay, Taytay, and Antipolo City which has jurisdiction in the Marikina River Basin along with other municipalities of Rizal that include Angono, Binangonan, Cardona, Jalajala, Morong, Pililla, and Teresa.
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources, River Basin Control Office (DENR-RBCO) Executive Director Jacob F. Meimban, Jr. gave a brief background on the importance of formulating a Master Plan for the Marikina River Basin and its benefits to the community.
