QUEZON CITY – The River Basin Control Office (RBCO), in partnership with the National Mapping and Resource Information Authority (NAMRIA), conducted a GIS training last November 23-27, 2015 at the Cocoon Boutique Hotel, Quezon City. The 5-day training aimed to capacitate the different River Basin focal persons from the DENR regional offices, representatives from Office of the Undersecretary for Field Operations and select RBCO staff on the use of GIS software to produce a wide variety of individual maps and create information that can be used to make decisions, solve problems and design projects/programs.
Executive Director Jacob F. Meimban, Jr. of RBCO in his welcome message inculcated the importance of having an accurate and up-to-date data using GIS software. Mr. Alvin Laurio of the NAMRIA Geomatics Training Center served as the resource person for the basic GIS training using Quantum GIS (QGIS).
