The River Basin Control Office conducted the CY 2017 Year-end Assessment and Action Planning Workshop in preparation for the Work and Financial Plan 2019 on January 16-18, 2018 at Cocoon Boutique Hotel, Diliman, Quezon City. Regional River Basin Focal Persons participated the said 3-day activity with the aim to strengthen the River Basin Organizations and to ensure the full implementation of the Master Plans of the river basins.
Executive Director Antonio M. Daño explained the Importance of the workshop which aims to determine where we are and where we have to go. He shared RBCO submission last December 2017 to the Philippine Statistics Office on status of the Master Plan and the implementation of programs/projects.
Dir. Daño also explained and discussed to the participants the relevance of the One Control Map (1:10,000) of the NAMRIA as the baseline of the GIS map generation and to be linked to the information system of all offices. He further stated the significance of instrumentation of the river basins as target for this year in updating the hydrological behavior and ecosystem evaluation.
At the outset of the activity, the RBCO Executive Director, together with the Focal Persons, initiates the workshop on the operational and action plan per region. In this manner, the focal person would be able to identify their specific and priority targets for the succeeding calendar years and as clear guide to the Work and Financial Plan for 2019.
“As an implementing body, we should have a unified implementing plans and policies for the RBOs. All RBO members should work together to attain and achieve their goals and mission. The Secretary has very clear instructions that all regional offices down to CENRO level should familiarized with the profile and status of their respective river basin,†Dir. Daño said.
The participants accomplished their own final output on Action Plan and CY 2019 WFP for consolidation of the RBCO. Other issues and concerns of the focal persons in the operationalization of the PAPs and Master Plan implementation were also raised and addressed during the activity.
