NAVOTAS CITY –The River Basin Control Office (RBCO) joined the nation in celebrating the 2015 International Coastal Clean up. RBCO officials and staff trooped to SitioPulo, Brgy. Tanza, Navotas City last September 19, 2015 to take part in the coastal cleanup.
The activity was led by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources-National Capital Region (DENR-NCR) and the MANATUTI (Malabon-Navotas-Tullahan-Tinajeros) River Management Committee. Around 1,000 volunteers from Navotas, Caloocan, Malabon, and Valenzuela cities participated in the cleanup. Likewise, various NGAs, NGOs, academe and private corporations such as Philippine Coast Guard, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), Save Freedom Island Movement, United Methodist Church, Baptist Church, Integrated Bar of the Philippines CalMaNa, University of the Philippines–Marine Biology Society (UP-MBS), Maynilad, and Maunlad Canning Corporation sent representatives/volunteers
Simultaneous coastal clean-up were also held at Baywalk, Roxas Boulevard Manila, and at the Las Piñas-Parañaque Critical Habitat and Ecotourism Area (LPPCHEA) wherein 10,000 volunteers participated in the event.
