As part of the monitoring of integrated planning and development of the country’s river basins, the RBCO convened the CY 2018 Mid-Year Assessment and Planning Workshop at Widus Hotel, Clark, Pampanga last July 23-26, 2018.
The worthwhile 3-day activity was attended by the regional river basin focal persons along with the representatives from the Policy and Planning Service and Financial Management Service og the DENR Central Office. The said activity was conducted to review the status of first semester regional work and financial accomplishment in support to the River Basin Management and master plan implementation and address some issues and gaps in the operationalization and institutionalization of River Basin Organizations. One of the agreements conferred was for the regions to make sure that their financial allotment be fully utilized at the end of the year.
On the other hand, Executive Director Antonio M. Daño during his message on the opening program, reminded the regional river basin focal persons on their significant contribution in the drafting and formulation of the Provincial ENR Framework Plan.
The flow of the activity also covers the presentation of the updates on the Formulation of the Climate Responsive Master Plan for the 8 clustered River Basins, status of the RBCO Database Management System and the conduct of the 2018 International River Summit (IRS) to be held in Cebu City. It was agreed that RBCO will continuously coordinate with the Service Provider regarding the matters raised by the concerned regional office for 8 clustered river basins.
Part of the agreement reached during the workshop is for the RBCO to discuss with the PEMSEA to organize a possible workshop for the conclusion and enhancement of the RBCO Database Management System which is one of the integral actions of the Office.
During the closing ceremony, ED Daño emphasized on his message to the participants on their roles and responsibilities in the management and operationalization of the management office to attain a functional and strengthened River Basin Organization and River Basin Management Office.
