The activity was participated by representatives from the different offices of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), other National Government Agencies (NGAs) and Non-Government Organizations (NGOs).
Assistant Secretary for Policy and Planning, Atty. Michelle Angelica Go gave a message following the opening remarks of the Executive Director of River Basin Control Office (RBCO), Director Jacob Meimban, Jr. In her message, she highlighted the DENR Framework’s societal goal which is inclusive growth and poverty reduction. She noted that a plan should have an anthropocentric view and should focus on how to uplift the lives if the poor. She also presented the key strategies being done by DENR in order to attain its societal goal.
This was followed by the presentation of the master plans for Bicol, Jalaur and Davao River Basins. The consultants, Orient Integrated Development Consultants Inc. (OIDCI) and Engineering and Development Corporation of the Philippines (EDCOP), highlighted in their presentations the strategies and proposed programs, activities and projects (PAPs) for the sustainable management and development of the river basins. After which, the workshop participants raised suggestions and clarifications regarding the master plans.
